Omnilog PM (Phenotype Microarray) The OmniLog PM system  evaluate simultaneously thousands of phenotypes in microbial cell-based assays. The technology uses 96-well microplates (PM1−PM20),  each well represents a different phenotypic test. Phenotypic tests include carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus and sulphur sources utilization, tolerance to osmotic stresses, tolerance to pH and to a wide variety of toxic compounds (antibiotics, antimetabolites, heavy metals and other inhibitors). PM uses tetrazolium violet reduction as an reporter of active metabolism. The reduction of the dye causes the formation of a purple color that is recorded by a CCD camera every 15 min and provides quantitative and kinetic information about the response of the cells in the PM plates). The data obtained are stored in computer files and can be analyzed to compare the PM kinetics of different strains.

Thyphoon 9200. Versatile scanner capable of detecting fluorescent, chemiluminescent as well as radioactive labelled samples by handling gel sandwiches, agarose and polyacrylamide gels, membranes, microplates, and microarrays.

QPix2XT colony picker. The Qpix2XT is a high-speed, high-precision robot, ideal for high-throughput applications in 96-well and 384-well microtiter plate formats, with data tracking. The main application is colony picking, it picks approximately 3,500 colonies per hour to inoculate standard size or deep well plates containing liquid growth media. The machine is capable to perform replication (it allows for library copying, compression (96 to 384 wells) and expansion (384 to 96 wells), reArraying (rearranging clones, or “hit-picking”, from library according to user input files) and gridding (to make high-density macro-arrays on 22 x 22 cm nylon membranes or agar plates).

MJ Tetrad Thermal cycler.
PCR system used for high-throughput PCR applications capable of handling both single tubes and microtiter plates. It allows up to four separate blocks to run synchronous or independent reactions.

Fast Performance Liquid Chromatography. System for the rapid purification of proteins at low to medium pressures greatly increases protein purification efficiencies.

JASCO J-810 Circular Dichroism spectrometer. Equipped with a computer-controlled Peltier device and a two-syringe titrator is used to obtain information about protein secondary structure.
